If you rented any gear in the US after September 3, 2023, and wondered why it was caked with mud even more so than usual, then there is a chance that the gear had recently returned from Burning Man, the week-long event held in the Black Rock Desert.
A downpour stranded 70,000 festivalgoers because of the “mucky, muddy, terrible environment,” according to reports. It created thick, ankle-deep mud and caused officials to impose a driving ban. You can bet the feeder cable and half the equipment didn’t escape without bringing some of that mud with it back to the shop.
